Grandparents’ Day - 2009
It was the eve of 26th June 2009. Don Bosco School, Liluah had reserved this day, to celebrate a very special bonding - the "family" bonding, by dedicating the day to our beloved grandparents. The huge gathering of grandparents coming to school was in itself an indication of the exuberant and colourful day we were about to witness.
The commencement of the programme was done with the lighting of the lamp by our beloved Rector and Principal Fr. Joseph Pathickal. The programme took off with a welcome dance by the students of the senior section. This was followed by an enthralling action song and a dance drama performed by the tiny tots of DBL. There were skits, folk dance and other dance programmes, which was followed by a melodious song, by a choir of sixty students, which kept the grandparents glued to their seats in sheer joy of seeing their tiny angels perform in front of their eyes.
We had a special event for the grandparents in the form of a questionnaire, in which the grandparents were quizzed on their knowledge of a few popular nostalgic melodies. This particular event drew a huge applause from the grandparents who transposed themselves from mere spectators to active participants, in an interactive session in a show of family solidarity and bonding.
The eventful day was concluded with a vote of thanks by our Vice Principal, Br. Jose Puthebpurackel followed by refreshments for our grandparents. The best achievement of the day was the smiles on the wrinkled faces, which reflected a sense of satisfaction, belonging and attainment.
