Music Club Week

MUSIC CLUB WEEK REPORT

The Music Club in its ongoing endeavour to alleviate the drab monotony of everyday life through music and to elevate the minds of young people from the materialism of reality to a more sublime plane, through its motto, "Heal the world through music" organized a wide spectrum of musical competitions and events during the Music Club Week from the 14th to the 19th of June, 2009.

We kicked off the week on Monday with the Singing and Musical Instruments Competition for classes VI to VIII. Four participants from each section competed and the audience and judges were left enthralled with the display of talent by the juniors of the senior section. The Sonu Nigams and Mozarts came out with all guns blazing and moved everyone through their soulful melodies. Information regarding various forms of music and its evolution through time was delivered through talks given by our boys during the morning assembly. Folk music, rock, disco and jazz music were some of the various genres that were introduced.

Also, being a socially aware group, Music Club introduced a new thematic agenda in its drive towards social service. It took an initiative to spread awareness about the least debated form of pollution – noise pollution. The boys of our club, led by our president Ankit Jha, displayed the banner "NO HORN PLEASE" in the assembly hall and sent out a plea to everyone to stop the incessant noise pollution in the neighbourhood.

On Wednesday, we also had the Singing and Musical Instruments Competition for classes IX and X. Once again the spectators experienced an afternoon of musical extravaganza. On Thursday, we organized the Singing and Musical Instruments Competition for classes XI and XII. This time the students were treated to songs like "Ride I" from Jay Sean, "Breaking the Habit" from Linkin Park and Beethoven’s Symphony 9, performed on the synthesizer.

On Friday, a free-for-all quiz was conducted. Students had to submit the answers to ten questions to the Music Club. The Music Club week concluded with the Musical Instruments Drawing Competition which was held on Friday afternoon for classes VI to VIII.
