GRANDPARENTS’ DAY - 2010
‘Age is the quality of the mind.’ A warm welcome was accorded to our beloved grandparents with the lilting music and the song ‘Dear grandma and grandpa, you’ve always been grand.’ The lamp was lit by Rev. Fr. Rector, a couple of grandparents and a student of our school.
In his inaugural speech Rev. Fr. Rector acknowledged and appreciated the trouble our grandparents had taken to come and grace the occasion. He spoke eloquently about the dignity of old age which is inevitable for all and the pleasure of seeing grandsons performing before them.
A variety entertainment programme comprising dance, songs, quiz and skit was held. Students of class III, IV, & V performed the colourful welcome dance based on Ganesh Vandana. The children of K.G. with their welcome song stole everybody’s heart. Students of classes I & II transported us all to the land of enchantment magic and fairies.
The folk dance by the boys of classes IV & V was simply fascinating – it was an amalgamation of colour, rhythm, form and music. The English skit by class V had as its message ‘We love you grandma and grandpa.’ A humorous skit named ‘Pagla Dasu’ centred round a talented boy who turns into a mischief. An interactive quiz was held as a filter – it became a huge success.
Sr. Jomy, our new Assistant Principal gave the vote of thanks. She too appreciated the grandparents who took so much trouble to be present here, thereby making this day a huge success.
