Telegraph School Awards
"Telegraph School Awards" provides various schools in and around Kolkata with an opportunity to stake their claim for the hallowed awards, merit certificates and honours that ‘The Telegraph’ issues every year. These awards recognize those schools which have achieved extraordinary feats in the fields of academics, extra-curricular activities, social service and many more. Apart from schools, achievements of individuals are also recognized and duly awarded. This awards system was institutionalised with the primary goal of providing a motive, an impetus to students and schools alike to go beyond the limits of mediocrity and achieve the impossible against all odds.
Like every year, this year too, our school presented itself as a possible candidate for the awards and honours in six categories ranging from ’the school that cares’ to ’the best maintained school’. The teachers and students put in their best efforts in preparing the brochure, on the basis of which the schools would be judged. The five honours and one award (best in extra-curricular activities) are a clear testimony to the hard work put in by the students and teachers involved.
The awards ceremony was held in two separate phases on consecutive Saturdays. The first phase saw Don Bosco School, Liluah getting the six honours, making us the only school to have achieved this extraordinary feat. The second phase was a grander occasion, staged at the Science City auditorium and presided over by Barry O’Brian, who is famous as ’Barry sir’ among us students. Social programmes by ’specially’ abled people and motivating speeches by distinguished guests were the order of the day. In all sincerity, it was indeed a moving learning experience.
