INTER SCHOOL THEME QUIZ AT DIO
The Thematic Quiz organized by St. John’s Diocesan School, is one of the most prestigious quizzes in Kolkata. The quiz was held on the 25th of July 2009, in Kalamandir, Kolkata, and the quizmaster for the occasion was Mr. Barry O’Brien. This year’s theme was "Jai Hind to Jai Ho", clearly meaning the progress of our beloved nation, India, in all spheres. More than 40 schools from in and around Kolkata participated in the preliminary round. Our team consisted of Avradeep Datta [XII C], Apratim Mukherjee [XII C], Abhiroop De [X D] and Pinak Samui [X D]. We were fortunate to be among the ten schools to qualify for the finale. In the finals, there were 6 rounds. The mind-boggling questions, wonderful answers, an ever-applauding audience and a charismatic quiz master, all added to the joy and experience. Thanks to some brilliant answers, DBL was in the lead throughout the quiz. At the end of the quiz, DBL and South Point were tied, with the same points. When the written tiebreakers too failed to break the deadlock, Barry went for buzzers & it was the buzzer round that placed us in the runners-up position. Overall, it was a learning and enriching experience !!
