JACO MEN’S VERSION OF JACO-MUN…………
Model united nations (also model un or mun) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy.In standard model un, students take on roles as diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO). More recently, simulation of other deliberative bodies has fallen under the umbrella of "model UN," even if they are completely unrelated to the United Nations or even international affairs.Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
After the Lmc mun, it was turn for Anik Dutta, Abhishek Mittal, Gaganjyot Singh and Sanket Sharma to earn laurels for the school & themselves, at Jaco mun, organised at St. James’ school. Sanket Sharma and Abhishek Mittal were to represent Somalia in the Security Council which was to discuss the crisis in Somalia. Anik Dutta was to represent Russia in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee, while the youngest member, Gaganjyot Singh had been assigned the herculean task of representing Pakistan in the Anti Terrorism Committee.
The Security Council:The jaco mun did not begin on a good note for the Somalians in the council which saw nearly two third of the countries in the council going against Somalia and vehemently oppose and question all its policies of reformation.Somalia succeeded to form allies with U.K ,USA and Uganda on the first day.The next day began with an emergency situation which called for immediate action The situation said that a Brazilian ship with nearly 40 crew members had been hijacked by Somalian pirates .
Somalia responded well to the situation and was successful in winning over the confidence of other nations like Brazil ,Burundy and Ukraine & played a major role in passing a resolution to rescue the victims, maintaining its stance and replying confidently to all the allegations .They were quick to question Russia( Lmg), about its irresponsible statement on arms export which ultimately led to the Russian delegates asking Somalians to be a little more generous and merciful in their opposition.
With careful diplomacy, tact & the right amount of aggression, Abhishek Mittal & Sanket Sharma were able to establish absolute supremacy in the Security Council.
Counter Terrorism Committee…
Terrorism is the most devastating menace to man in the 21st century. Millions of people worldwide have fallen victim to terror. Despite efforts by various countries, as well as the UNO, various terrorist institutions continue to thrive in various parts of the world, especially in south Asia.
The agenda for the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) at Jacomun was "terrorist interception and infrastructure in South Asia". The DBL delegate (Gaganjyot Singh) represented Pakistan in the CTC. It was a great eye-opener for one to be involved in discussions about handling terrorism and countering it by striking at its roots. Gaganjyot had to spend the first day answering all the allegations that he was charged with. He got constant support from delegates of Sudan, North Korea, China and Cuba. On the second day, an emergency was announced which involved Russia’s declaration that it would invade Pakistan. Thanks to some support from other delegates and a change in Russia’s decision, Gaganjyot managed to pull off the second day of Jacomun without much of a problem. The final day was spent in discussing terrorist finance and opium trade. By the end of the day, the delegates passed a resolution that had solutions to various problems of terrorism. Defending Pakistan made one realize that every coin has two sides and it is essential for one to understand both the sides before taking major decisions. The experience gained at jacomun is indeed unmatched.

Special Political and Decolonization Committee
Anik Dutta represented Russia in the Special Political and Decolonization committee (specpol) and the topic was The Israel-Palestine Conflict.
Mun is a platform where a student can hone his skills of public speaking, diplomatic thinking and researching. One should be very through with the topic and his country’s stances on the topic standing firmly by them throughout. Also credit goes to that student who can defend his allies in times of crisis with his skills and talents. Mun also gives room for interaction at the individual level, as one is in constant communication with his allies and also with the committee at large.
Under the able control of our moderator (Madhav) and director (Varnaan) the SPECPOL committee ultimately was able to resolve the conflict which was one of the most destructive and debated conflicts in world politics.The three days of mun will always be cherished by me as my speaking power and diplomacy in dealing situations got better day by day.In the end I can summarize the mun as an event where i and my fellow delegates: learnt, performed and ACHIEVED….
